Babes + Tattoos + Glasses

Yes yes yes.
Exactly as the title describes.
Let's keep this short on the incoherent babble-drooling from me, and heavy on the hunks, mmk?

Framework. Eyewear Made Famous

I've stumbled upon these amazing posters by Moxy Creative in my recent internet travels. They deftly combine my love of spectacles, typography and clever graphics into six punchy colour blocked images.

It's hard to choose a fave, so I think it's probably a safe bet to get all six - but if I had to choose just one, I would love The Ghandi's up on my wall!

I've included the text from the website - who am I to try and top their witty writers? - but you should defs go and check them out for yourself!

01. Woody Allen 02. Kanye West 03. Buddy Holly 04. Michael Caine

05. Kurt Cobain 06. John Lennon 07. Geordi LaForge 08. Malcolm X

09. Johnny Depp 10. Dame Edna 11.Stephen Colbert
12. The Blues Brothers 13. Austin Powers 14. Yves Saint Laurent

Framework: The Depp's

Perpetual ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ Johnny Depp has always been known for his progressive style, and although his looks may change faster than the characters he portrays in his films, these glasses are more often than naught part of the ensemble. Substantial, yet subtle, these glasses reflect the man that wears them, in possession of a style all his own.

Framework: The Gandhi's

Gandhi, without a doubt the poorest man to make any iconic style list; and just as he was a man of simple means, the glasses he donned on the daily were elegantly minimalist. Belying clarity and intelligence, these simple wire frames are a testament to the fact that it is the man too, who makes the clothes.

Framework: The Warhol's

Andy Warhol is perhaps one of the few people in history who successfully turned their very existence into a work of art; and just as art endures over time, so too has his iconic look. Warhol was that rare breed of artist that truly saw the world through different eyes, and almost always that creative worldview was filtered through a seriously stylish pair of frames.

Framework: The YSL's

One of the most revered designers of all time, Yves Saint Laurent demonstrated a deeper understanding of aesthetic when he said, “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” This could be no truer than when looking at the man himself, a veritable icon of style. The man understood that even a simple pair of black frames can inform who we are, and more importantly, who we want to be.

Framework: The Ye's

As surely as George Bush hates black people, Kanye West loves a fashion statement. Indeed, the so-called ‘Shutter Shade’ made so ubiquitous by Mr. West proves that function need not preclude fashion; and even if this one turns up in the annals of fashion history under a “What were they thinking?” banner, those of us that were there can surely answer, “Damn, I look good.”

Dolce & Gabbana A/W 12/13 Sunglasses

Mmmm, crazy sunglasses. I'm so into that maaaaaan! These are ker-azy to the MAX with some nutty flowers and whirlimajigs. I wanna wear them just to see people squint for a D&G logo: "Is she wearing cheap kawaii sunnies made in Taiwan?? Or are they really shiny D&G facial flowerpot frames?" they will titter amongst themselves as I swish by nonchalantly. The answer is: FLOWERS WOO HOO!

Mmm. they kind of look like excellent barnacles!

Bibby's Rocket Vintage: Part 1

I've stumbled upon this amazing Etsy store recently. It is an absolute treasure trove of vintage glasses, including the most sought-after of all, NOS frames! NOS means New Old Stock, which basically means they are vintage, but have been stored and never worn. It's not just the potential cooties you have to worry about with vintage eyewear, plastic frames can lose moisture the longer they're worn, and become brittle and lacklustre over time. NSO frames are still in beautiful, original condition, and completely ideal for fitting your lenses into without the potential heartbreak of them snapping in the optical lab!

There are so many beautiful frames here, I've decided to do two rounds of blog posts. I've also included most of the original description from the website, so it gives you a some tasty information about each of them. Stay tuned for another series of stunning specs soon, and in the meantime, check out the Bibby's Rocket Vintage store here!

My Vintage Sunglass Collection

I'm obsessed with glasses. BIG SURPRISE I'm also obsessed with sunglasses. Crazy, huh? But my favourite combo of all is anything glasses + anything vintage. DOUBLY OBSESSED (that's a thing, yeah?)

So, every time I wander into a vintage or op shop, I make a bee-line for the awkward jumble of crappy glasses stashed undoubtedly in a cheap, rattan container on the bench. After rifling through the broken service station sunnies, over-the-counter reading glasses and cheap Ray-Ban knock offs, sometimes I strike pure gold in the form of some beautifully preserved vintage frames!

I've had a delve through my collection and bought out my finest retro pieces to showcase here. This is part 1 in what will probably be a 3 part series (yup, I've got that many!). I've kept it to sunglasses only for now, but I have a ton of prescription specs to bring out too. Look forward to that, but in the meantime, enjoy!

Check out the original Ray-Bans on the left - they aren't in the best shape, but considering their age, they're holding on great!

These are an incredible pair of Gail Spence Design for Pro Design specs, made in Denmark. I don't think they're that old - the quality of them is impeccable - but they're at least old enough that someone would give them away. I've never seen another pair quite like them, complete show-stoppers!

These are Steppers, Made in Germany. Pretty retro - the fit of the temple is crazy weird. and they completely munch my face. Love!

Oh look! It's me! Looking super-duper attractive in a distinctly 80's number!
These guys are branded "Sign by Sarroff", which I've never heard off. I'm not convinced on the quality of the plastic - it's overly glossy and light - so I think these may have just been a cheap, fun pair.

Speaking of cheap and fun, this is the cheapest and funnest pair I've ever seen! They're a little too small for my face, so they look wicked spesh when I wear them (which, unfortunately for you guys, I'm not doing today!). Love the green face and the purple temples, and who can resist those paint-speckle freckles?

OOOOOOO, me again! Don't judge my awkward face, I spent the morning in hospital having boring tests, so I was tired and missing blood! Fun times. At least the fulli sick specs can hide my tired little eyes! This lovely pair says "TREND" on one temple and "MADE IN ITALY" on the other. Hmmm. Can't decide if cheap or just badly named...either way, what's not to love about a big, leopard-print cat's eye?

Just a few dresses I need in my life!

Mmm yeah, I love me some glasses. Anyone who knows me personally also knows that I'm dress-obsessed too! What more perverse way could one imagine to tear at my heart strings AND my wallet strings at the same time than...putting PICTURES OF GLASSES ON DRESSES??!!

It's pure, glorious torture I tell you!

Completely adorable Zara number

Twirly whimsy from UsTrendy

And my absolute, absolute favourite...this divine tailored frock of wonder from ModCloth!

Pardon me while I spray paint frames on every frock in sight!

Matt Damon - nerd babe

So I found this little gem of Matt Damon today...what the hell? How have I not seen his geeky side before? I'm somehow even enchanted by the foppish hair-do.
